MONACO & GRAND CANAL, Venice – A Smart Stay in the City
About the Hotel
Historic Grand Canal Views
Monaco & Grand Canal occupies a 17th-century building once owned by the Dandolo family, 100 meters from St. Mark's Square. The 92 rooms include Murano glass chandeliers, Venetian fabrics, and marble bathrooms with Diptyque toiletries. Many rooms face the Grand Canal, offering views of Santa Maria della Salute church and San Giorgio Island. Suites add separate living areas with writing desks.
Venetian Dining Terrace
The hotel's Ristorante Grand Canal serves local seafood and risottos on a terrace lined with Venetian lamp posts, overlooking the Grand Canal. Breakfast includes fresh pastries and espresso served with basilica views. Ingredients are sourced daily from Rialto Market, 700 meters away.
Events in Palazzo Dandolo
The property includes Palazzo Dandolo's 250-seat reception hall and eight smaller salons for private gatherings. Staff coordinate floral arrangements, table settings, and custom menus. The building was Venice's first public gambling house in the 1600s.
San Marco Access
Located in San Marco district, the hotel is steps from the Bridge of Sighs and Doge's Palace. The San Zaccaria vaporetto stop (Line 1) is 150 meters away, with direct routes to Santa Lucia train station in 25 minutes. Peggy Guggenheim Collection is a 15-minute walk along the canal.
Concierge & Services
Staff arrange private water taxis, guided tours of Teatro La Fenice (500 meters away), and reservations at local bacari wine bars. Rooms include air conditioning, safes, and satellite TV. The front desk stores luggage for guests taking late vaporettos to the airport.

Guest Ratings & Reviews
I had a fantastic stay at the hotel. The rooms were clean, beautifully furnished, and had a great king-sized bed. The service was friendly and helpful, especially with arranging tours. The location couldn't be better, with easy access to water taxis and all the main attractions. Though the dining experience was a bit overpriced and mediocre, the facilities were great overall.
I had to pay extra to get a proper room that was beautifully decorated and clean, but the hotel rooms need updating. The service was attentive, with some impeccable touches like pasta made in front of me. The location by the canal, steps away from St Mark's Square, was fantastic. The dining was average, considering the price, with a view of the Grand Canal. Overall, a comfortable stay with room for improvement.
The hotel's location is superb, right on the Grand Canal with quiet surroundings yet close to the bustling spots like San Marco. The rooms are cozy with all the essential amenities, but they could benefit from some renovation. The service was outstanding, making us feel entirely at ease. However, the dining experience had its ups and downs, ranging from lovely moments to some minor disappointments. Overall, a great stay with a few areas that could be improved.
My stay at the hotel was a mixed experience. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and had a spacious bathroom, but they were quite small and overlooked a dreary courtyard, making them feel cramped. The service was generally friendly, although there were instances of staff behavior that could have been improved. The location was convenient, being close to St Mark's Square and offering easy access to ferries. While the dining was satisfactory, the prices could have been more reflective of the quality. Overall, it was a decent stay with some room for enhancement in various aspects.
I absolutely loved my stay at this hotel! The rooms were very elegant, clean, and comfortable, making it a great place to relax after a day of exploring Venice. However, the noise from people dragging suitcases could be a bit bothersome at times. The hotel's proximity to Piazza San Marco was a major plus, despite the rooms needing some investment.
The hotel had rooms that were spotlessly clean and enormous, with a beautiful bathroom and a huge comfy bed, all overlooking the Grand Canal. It was extremely quiet, which was perfect for a peaceful stay. However, the price seemed a bit high for the size of the rooms.
I had a mixed experience at the hotel. The rooms were nice, clean, and had a great view, but they were quite basic and didn't match the expected 4-star standard. The service was overall pleasant, with friendly staff, although they seemed more engaged in their own conversations. The location was stunning right on the Canale Grande, but the proximity to the gondolas and water taxis caused some noise and pollution issues. The dining was varied and delicious, but the breakfast hours were a bit inconvenient. The hotel didn't offer many onsite facilities.
